Remembering Kavya
“There is more to a boy than what his mother sees. There is more to a boy than what his father dreams. Inside every boy lies a heart that beats. And sometimes it screams, refusing to take defeat. And sometimes his father's dreams aren't big enough, and sometimes his mother's vision isn't long enough. And sometimes, the boy has to dream his own dreams and break through the clouds with his own sunbeams.”

- Ben Behunin, Remembering Isaac: The Wise and Joyful Potter of Niederbipp

This is the story of a child, whose memories we will treasure forever. Meet Kavya Sisodia, a brave 10-year old boy, who epitomized grace and courage through one of life’s biggest challenges. When he was diagnosed with cancer, his father, Mr Shailesh Sisodia, did everything in his power to help his son fight this battle. It is excruciatingly painful to see someone we care about suffer, but courage is about putting on a brave face and fighting battles every day for just one more ray of sunshine. Kavya's family worked tirelessly to ensure this ray of sunshine continues to shine in their world, overcoming challenges such as raising funds for Kavya’s recovery, injections, and overall treatment. To support Kavya’s treatment at Delhi's Rajiv Gandhi Medical Institute, Mr Sisodia not only exhausted his savings, but also reached out friends and family for financial support. He came in touch with Eka Foundation through an acquaintance, and thus, found a partner on this arduous journey. Through one curve ball after another, neither we nor Kavya ever lost hope. However, despite best efforts, Kavya’s family lived through what can be a parent’s worst nightmare when they lost him to cancer on March 2, 2022. True to his name, which means poetry in motion, Kavya lived his brief life on earth sharing peace and beauty with those he met. Kavya’s smiling face will remain in our hearts forever, as a reminder of the strength we need to surf through life’s ups and downs. Honouring Kavya’s invincible spirit and his happy soul, Eka Foundation will continue to support such brave warriors in their journey through life.
